see larger map >>

March 29 to April 8, 2022

Led by Professor Scott Pearson, delve into Ireland’s storied past, from prehistoric passage tombs to the Troubles that once plagued Belfast and Northern Ireland, and hear from local experts about the impacts of Brexit today. Along the way, enjoy some of the finest food and drink Ireland has to offer.

Stepping stones. Drive the north coast and stop to walk atop some of the 40,000 interlocking basalt columns of stunning Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Inspiration points. Take in the striking scenery of the coastal Connemara district, which has captured the imaginations of poets, artists, writers and filmmakers. Back in time. Marvel at the rock carvings and dramatic stone structures of neolithic Newgrange and Knowth, which predate Stonehenge and the pyramids of Egypt and are part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. On and off the beaten path. Explore the history and culture of well-known cities and try surprising products crafted by rural artisans as we come to see the Emerald Isle in a different light through its food and drink.
