Description: Deceptive advertising practices and disinformation (e.g., COVID-19, elections, conspiracy theories, etc.) have caused mistrust in the media, especially social media. Professor Hancock will discuss a research study that tracked people before and after the recent elections and the implications of disinformation on social media and beyond. He will also talk about the need for media literacy training and offer tips to spot disinformation.
