After the luncheon, all attendees and any other alumni and guests are invited to walk together to the Lincoln Memorial (or meet us there) to continue the dialog, bond, take photos, and further commemorate this focus on our shared history and values.

Self-Guided DC History Walking Tour 12:30 pm - until. Cost: Free. Meet at African American Civil War memorial, 1925 Vermont Avenue NW. Join other alumni to take a walk through the streets of DC along the African American Heritage Trail. Enjoy a self-guided walking tour of DC using free guides and a recorded tour guide. The Stanford community is invited to Stanford in Washington for a delicious brunch and to enjoy “From U Street Blues to Copacetic,” a jazz and blues program designed by Stanford in Washington teaching artist and playwright Tom Minter. Journey along chords that span the talents, music, and times of such artists as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, and Nina Simone, speaking into the fusion of jazz and poetry that evolved a riff of sounds and song into an identity that defined a period of Black Power and politics.
