Join us for our 2nd annual train ride through the NC countryside as all the trees change color for the fall on Sunday, Nov. 12. This year we are hoping to attract more Stanford Alumni along with our Ivy Plus alumni club colleagues.
The train ride will be on the New Hope Valley Railway (15 minutes drive south of Apex). And it will be a fun outing for families with kids, singles, couples, and seniors alike. Who doesn’t like a train ride on a “real railroad”? The NHVRy this year will be celebrating on the same day the recently relocated historic 1880’s Goldston Depot to their museum (that’s right – 1880’s!). All kids will get a chance to paint their “own” GOLDEN SPIKE before or after the train ride as a memento of the day’s ride .
And as a special new opportunity this year, two adults will get to actually ride in the cab of the locomotive pulling our train, one each way. There will be a raffle for those that arrive at least 30 min before train departure time for the outbound cab ride. During the ride, we will have a raffle for another adult to ride in the cab on the return ride.
Train ride is scheduled to depart at 1:00 pm and takes about an hour. There is a special DISCOUNT rate being offered for those that purchase their tickets in advance online for the 1:00 pm train IF you use the promo code IVYPLUS.
There will be a vendor onsite serving food and ice cream. Or bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in the rail yard. We HIGHLY encourage that you pre-purchase your tickets so we can get a count on how many are coming which will enable us to arrange a private car for our group.
