Be part of a family literacy “art in the garden” party and work day at L.A. Morgan Elementary School’s garden. Volunteer tasks include:

- Reading children’s books aloud in a group and one-on-one

- Giving books to children (books provided through SMART Family Literacy)

- Guiding hands-on kid-friendly art activities, including painting garden rocks and writing messages of kindness. (“Kindness Rocks”)

- Placing rocks for children to read throughout the elementary campus.

- Weeding and harvesting in the garden; planting cover crops for summer

- Taking photos and shooting video for a parent education project.

Children of all ages are welcome at this event with parental supervision. Bring your own personal items, including gardening gloves and sun protection. Sandals and flip flops are not recommended. Covered benches provide shade and space to take breaks.
